Description:

Listed below are the residual paper jam error codes that can appear after powering on the printer or after opening the rear door, these errors are not achieved through printing. These are generally the result of paper still jammed in the rear door, a stuck sensor flag, a dirty or faulty sensor, or a failed DC Controller.

Error Codes:

13.B9.FF
13.B2.FF
13.B4.FF
13.D3.FF

Diagnosing and Resolving Issue:

Check for paper obstruction

Check the paper path in the rear (SFP models) or right (MFP models) door to verify no residual paper is jammed (paper may have torn during removal and not be visible).

Stuck Sensor Flag or Dirty/Faulty Sensor

After checking there is no obstructions, next check the sensor flag correlating to the error code to confirm it toggles freely and that the sensors are clear. See the error code descriptions and images below showing locations of flags/sensors.

  • 13.B9.FF – Check that the flag located on the fuser toggles. This can be located by removing the fuser from printer (caution, the fuser may be HOT) and opening the upper guide on the fuser. Check and clear any debris/obstructions on flag/sensor before toggling.
    • If flag is missing, the fuser (RM2-1256) will need to be replaced.
    • If the flag doesn’t toggle or is stuck, you can attempt to free/loosen the flag, but doing this can lead to the flag breaking.
    • If the flag toggles and there are no obstructions, it can be assumed that the sensor has failed and the fuser (RM2-1256) will need to be replaced.
  • 13.B2.FF – Check that the 4 flags on the registration assembly rotate properly. These flags are all connected on a shaft and should rotate together into 3 different “home” positions as it rotates.
    • If flags do not rotate, replace registration assembly (RM2-6774).
    • If flags rotate, remove any obstructions. If removing obstructions doesn’t resolve error or no obstructions are found, it could indicate the registration assembly has failed, replace registration assembly (RM2-6774).
  • 13.B4.FF
    • If the flag doesn’t toggle or is stuck, you can attempt to free/loosen the flag, but doing this can lead to the flag breaking.
    • If the flag toggles, attempt to clear any debris from the sensor (located underneath the flag) with a can of compressed air in the area pointed to, if unresolved replace the transfer assembly (RM2-6776 duplex models; RM2-1248 simplex models).
  • 13.D3.FF
    • If the flag doesn’t toggle or is stuck, you can attempt to free/loosen the flag, but doing this can lead to the flag breaking.
    • If the flag toggles, attempt to clear any debris from the sensor (located behind the flag) with a can of compressed air in the area pointed to (figure 3), if unresolved replace the right/rear door assemblies. Part Numbers:
      • SFP Simplex: RM2-1249
      • SFP Duplex: RM2-6746
      • MFP: RM2-0849

Faulty DC Controller

If the steps above did not resolve the error, this most likely means that the DC Controller has failed and will need to be replaced. Part Numbers:

  • RM2-9494 (M607-M609, E60055-E60075)
  • RM3-8461 (M610- M612)
  • RM3-7619 (E60155-E60175)
  • RM2-9493 (M631MFP-M633MFP, E62555MFP-E62575MFP)
  • RM3-7621 (E62655MFP-E62675MFP)
  • RM3-8458 (M634MFP-M636MFP)
